Why businesses choose HRC
HRC is a nonprofit founded in 1969 and incorporated in 1970. Our mission is to help others help themselves through exceptional human services and community collaboration.
Our janitorial and laundry operations are real jobs. Some people build skills here and move into the general job market; others make a career of it and stay with us for years. Both matter. When you contract with HRC, your dollars stay in Edgar and Clark Counties and go directly into paid employment for people who have disabilities.
Employee Assistance Program

HRC partners with employers to provide real, human-centered support for employees facing stress, burnout, personal challenges, trauma, substance use concerns, and other mental health needs. When employees know their employer has made support available before a crisis happens, it sends a clear message: you matter here.
Our EAP is built for employers who want something more personal than a hotline and more meaningful than an app. Employees connect with real professionals from a local behavioral health organization that understands this region, its workplaces, and its communities.
HRC can offer this depth because it is more than a narrow EAP vendor. Our broader services include mental health treatment, addiction treatment, crisis support, employment support, and services for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities — which gives employers a local partner with real range.
You decide who's covered — employees only, employees plus spouses, partners and dependents, or a specific work group. You and HRC set the session limit together, so the benefit is clear to your team from day one.
You also choose how you're billed: pay only for what your employees actually use, or prepay a fixed annual amount for predictable budgeting. Most employers choose pay-for-use.
We don't recommend structures with fewer than six sessions per person — that rarely leaves room for even a brief intervention to make a difference. In many situations we recommend fourteen.
When employees have a confidential place to work through stress, grief, family strain, addiction concerns, trauma, or communication problems, HR gets pulled into fewer situations that were never meant to be handled as informal counseling: fewer emotionally charged office conversations, fewer conflicts needing mediation, fewer repeated performance conversations that go nowhere, and fewer moments where a manager is trying to solve a problem they aren't clinically equipped to handle.
Agreements include a 30-day written notice of termination for either party. That's deliberate. We believe agreements should be win-win relationships, not traps.
